Gift Ideas

Gift ideas, with prices.

Seven ways to walk out with something good, from $2.50 to $25.00.

Build a box off the candy wall

Pick your own from the wall and we weigh it out. A quarter pound is $4.00 for up to two picks, a half pound is $8.00 for up to four, and a full pound is $16.00 for up to six. Chocolate is its own wall: $5.00 a quarter pound, $10.00 a half, $20.00 a pound for up to six picks. Gummy bears, sour worms, Swedish fish, nonpareils, chocolate raisins, fruit slices — it is their taste, not ours.

Fudge, cut by the block

A half-pound block of house-cut fudge is $9.00, in chocolate, chocolate walnut, maple walnut and whatever seasonal flavor is on the slab that week. It travels well and it keeps, which is what makes it the easy answer for a teacher, a neighbour or a host.

Old-fashioned, the way it used to taste

A half-pound box of assorted salt water taffy is $6.00. Peanut brittle is $5.00, honey roasted peanuts $5.00, a rock candy stick $2.50. For anyone who grew up on this boardwalk, this is the shelf that does the work.

Chocolate-dipped, made that day

Three chocolate-dipped strawberries on a stick are $6.00 and two are $5.00. Frozen chocolate-covered strawberries are $6.00 and are in season from Mother's Day through the summer, so call to check. A whole banana dipped in chocolate and frozen is $4.00. A chocolate-covered apple is $6.50, topped with nuts, sprinkles or coconut.

Something that gets a reaction

The giant swirl lollipop is $10.00 and the large rainbow swirl is $7.00. A giant candy necklace is $5.00. A giant jawbreaker on a stick is $5.00. For a kid's birthday, this is the one they will remember.

The Coney Island souvenir

The Williams Candy logo t-shirt is $25.00 — one of the few remaining souvenirs from the boardwalk's heyday. Pair it with a red candy apple at $5.50 and you have a gift that is unmistakably from this corner and nowhere else.

For the grown-ups

Salted cashews, in-shell pistachios and walnut halves are $5.00 each, by the quarter or half pound. Not everyone wants sugar. This is the shelf for them.

Birthdays & kids' parties

One giant swirl lollipop at $10.00 is a birthday present a kid remembers longer than a toy. If you need one for every guest instead of one for the birthday kid, that is a by-the-dozen order.
